Hypebeast Magazine releases its latest issue today, titled the Fever Issue (#32). The publication's newest launch is a 256-page homage to the creatives who embrace the speed, chaos and whirlwind of the present – a fever dream of artistic ignition, burning hot and bright.
On the cover is a painting by Jun Takahashi, founder of revered Japanese label, UNDERCOVER. Although known for the long shadow that his brand has forever cast on the face of streetwear, it was not until recently that the polymath publicly shared his wide oeuvre of oil paintings. Although it was a quietly known fact that he regularly produced painted works from his private studio, Takahashi's debut of haunting, surrealist portraits at his inaugural art show on September 9 at Tokyo's Gallery Target further cemented his repute as a true artist whose reach spans well beyond fashion alone.
The Fever Issue will also shine a light on emerging names in the fashion realm, including the likes of Thug Club, Mowalola, Small Talk Studio, Karu Research and haute couture hat-maker Benny Andallo. Embarking on a journey through the art world, profiled artists include Peter Sutherland, Emma Stern, Matthew Burgess and the McGlouglin Brothers, as well as Jon Rafman, who delivered an essay on AI's potential to galvanize the craft of image-making.
Diving into various subculture genres, the Fever Issue also features lifestyle golf brand Metalwood Studio, musicians Paris Texas and Destroy Lonely, as well as a peek behind the curtain of food pop-up series Shy's Burgers and the daredevil behind the Citi Bike Boyz.
The latest issue is rounded off with a fashion portfolio of sunglasses by Maya Margolina, a global guide to independent radio stations, a tutorial on how to make nuanced imagery using AI, and a survey on artists who use clothing and textiles as their medium of choice.
