With the 2026 FIFA World Cup underway, Nike has launched its "X2" collection, blurring the lines between football culture, streetwear, and grassroots community. The concept behind the mid-June drop is a strict three-way formula for each country: one National Football Federation, one cultural collaborator, and one youth sports organization. The result is a 7-country lineup of pre-match gear, apparel, and the "Cryoshot" series—a footwear line that repurposes iconic football boots into lifestyle sneakers.
For the England and South Korea capsules, the focus shifts to distinct youth subcultures and street styles. England x Palace Skateboards delivers pure British terrace culture mixed with skate aesthetics, featuring pre-match jerseys and varsity jackets with a St. George’s Cross motif alongside an Air Speed M boot to benefit Football Beyond Borders. On the other side of the globe, South Korea x PEACEMINUSONE, led by G-Dragon, mixes Korean workwear with raw streetwear. This capsule combines KFA imagery with G-Dragon's signature daisy motif and a distressed synthetic suede CTR360 boot to benefit the youth organization We Meet Up.
Rounding out the collection are France, the Netherlands, and Nigeria, each offering radically different design perspectives. France x Jacquemus brings quiet luxury to the pitch with clean tricolor stripes and a premium leather recreation of the legendary Tiempo R10 boot, partnering with Sport dans la Ville. In Amsterdam, Netherlands x Patta celebrates Dutch multiculturalism, blending the KNVB States Lion with custom charms on vibrant orange gear alongside an R9 Cryoshot sneaker to support Favela Street. Finally, Nigeria x Slawn brings unfiltered, hand-drawn energy to the Super Eagles, with London-based artist Slawn covering the team's wings in cartoon illustrations and treating a vintage canvas boot like a blank canvas, benefiting the Bravehearts Ladies Foundation.
The collection heavily features the tournament's North American hosts, starting with the USA x Virgil Abloh Archive (V.A.A.) capsule. Paying homage to the 1994 World Cup, the gear mixes Virgil’s signature design codes with a vintage 1987 Nike boating line, highlighting a hemp rugby shirt and a Zoom M9 Cryoshot sneaker honoring Mia Hamm to support the Coalitions for Sport Equity. Alongside it, co-host Canada teams up with Drake’s NOCTA sub-label for "Les Rouges." This capsule focuses specifically on the women's game, reimagining Canada Soccer’s heritage through sleek, tech-heavy silhouettes to support Canadian Women & Sport.
