In celebration of its 30th Anniversary, Toronto-based outerwear imprint Canada Goose has reunited with BAPE for an exclusive collaboration. The Fall/Winter 2023 Canada Goose x BAPE capsule pays homage to the adventure of urban exploration with the mantra, "Live in the Open." Thriving at the intersection of lifestyle and fashion, the collection is a highly anticipated union of the two behemoth brands. The offering will introduce all-new iterations of Canada Goose's signature Crofton Puffer and Freestyle Vest in subdued colorways, featuring BAPE's unmistakable ABC CAMO print.
Taking a closer look at the inspiration behind the release, the two brands tap into the countercultures of ATV and motocross that call New York City home, with the designs fusing together the sleek leanings of BAPE's Japanese streetwear foundation and the functional blueprint of Canada Goose's parkas and technical outerwear. To showcase the various collector pieces, Harlem-bred rap artist A$AP TyY of the A$AP MOB and model Tre’Nae Bynum star in the lookbook, where they pop wheelies against a backdrop of the streets of Randall's and Roosevelt Island in Manhattan – the two are seen wearing the ABC CAMO Crofton Puffer and Freestyle Vest. Ideal for the current transitional season, additional seasonal styles include oversized cargo pants, carpenter skirts, designer hoodies and cold-weather accessories, such as technical gloves.
BAPE, which was founded in 1993, gained repute in the early '90s and '00s and has come to be known as a canonical vanguard of street fashion. The brand's signature APE HEAD and ABC CAMO motifs have become iconic amongst streetwear lovers (the latter of which was first introduced in 1996 as a distorted camouflage pattern) and has been co-signed by the likes of Pharrell Williams and Pusha T. Along the same vein, Canada Goose's Crofton Puffer has become a ubiquitous favorite during the winter seasons and has become a wardrobe essential. The heritage outerwear item highlights ripstop construction, a water-repellent shell, a down-filled adjustable hood and streamlined articulated sleeves that breaks with tradition from the oft bulky, cumbersome cuts of standard winter wear. The Freestyle Vest also steps forward as an all-season essential, thanks largely to its close-to-body fit that allows for a streamlined silhouette as well as elevated layering.
Along with the core unisex capsule, Canada Goose and BAPE will also be launching limited edition Medicom Be@rbrick figurines, dressed in the FW23 ABC CAMO Crofton Puffer, of course. HBX New York and HBX Hong Kong are the exclusive North American Retailers for the Canada Goose x BAPE collection, slated to roll out in stores December, Saturday 2 and online at HBX.com on Saturday 9. Select domestic BAPE and Canada Goose retailers will also carry the limited-edition collection.
