Founded in 1996 by Jonny Johansson as part of the creative collective ACNE, Acne Studios is a multidisciplinary fashion house known for its ready-to-wear lines, footwear collections, accessories and denim. The brand aims to produce quality clothing that are timeless with a focus on environmental strategy. The brand has grown considerably with 40 retail locations around the world, and flagship stores in Paris, London, New York, Los Angeles, and Tokyo. ACNE was focused on film, graphic design, production and advertising, and stands for “Ambition to Create Novel Expressions”. In 1997, Johansson created 100 pairs of jeans with red stitching for family and friends. They became very popular and covetable, resulting in Wallpaper Magazine and Vogue Paris picking up on this, urging ACNE to create more apparel and expand beyond denim.
For Acne Studio Spring/Summer 2020 collection, Johansson presents the concept of living in nature and the countryside through an expansive array of loose silhouettes created with contrasting fabrics and textures. The nature-inspired range encompasses everything from trend-driven tailored and denim jackets to accessories such as cardholders and sunglasses alongside bags and sneakers. Detailed with oversized knotted detailings on each side and a gold-toned brand lettering on the front, the label's signature Musubi Shoulder Bag arrives in a timeless black hue. Elsewhere, the Mini Cross Body Bag features two knots and stamped logo in silver on the front, invisible snap button closures, and is offered in hues of almond brown, light blue and black.
