Introducing: BURBERRY Spring/Summer 2019 "KINGDOM" Collection

Upon the recent arrival of designer Riccardo Tisci, the former Creative Director of GIVENCHY, BURBERRY's 160-year heritage underwent a drastic transformation. Veering into uncharted avenues, a bold direction was set in place in order to bring about new perspectives for a younger generation hungry for something different. For example, the famed graphic designer Peter Saville was commissioned to redesign the age-old logo with the letters "B" and "T" interlocked — a patterned acronym denoting the founder Thomas Burberry. And while a large component of the house's heritage remains safely intact, Tisci's punk-gothic sensibilities offer an exciting sense of peculiarity. For the BURBERRY Spring/Summer 2019 "KINGDOM" Collection, soft, brown-hazel palettes and checkered patinas are synthesized with garish punk inspirations.
The latest collection encompasses a range of graphic T-shirts, checkered shorts, scarves, bucket hats, fanny packs, a cardigan, cardholder and fishnet layering piece. One standout piece is the BURBERRY Deer Printed T-Shirt, woven with a patch displaying a portrait of a deer next to words that read "THEY DO NOT LOVE" and "THEY DO NOT SHOW THEIR LOVE". Many other deer references have been added to the collection — a resurrected motif from Tisci's formative years at Givenchy, which, at the time of its debut, created much buzz.
The BURBERRY Slogan Animal Print Cotton Silk Large Square Scarf is another highlight. Patterned in deer-skin, the words "WHY DID THEY KILL BAMBI" are printed in bold while the scarf is bordered in logomania. The Animal Print Woven Shirt is a half-zip pull-over T-shirt detailed with two patches on the chest, a distinctive deer print and leather trims throughout. Other pieces like the BURBERRY Basic T-shirts, Vintage Check Bum Bag, Casual Shorts and The Classic Check Cashmere Scarf round out the latest assemblage.
