Fledgling L.A.-based label, PizzaSlime, first started out as the result of one night of heavy drinking. According to the founders, Stoveman and Hobin, it was discovered the following morning that they had created a domain name to their liking, which inspired them to build a music blog centered around pop culture that poked fun at mass media. After experimenting with meme-friendly graphic tees, the label has since garnered a cult following that now extends to include such names as Diplo, Flosstradamus and even Ryan Gosling.
This season, PizzaSlime delivers a concise assemblage of tongue-in-cheek prints. Among this capsule is a T-shirt, hoodie and a pair of sweatpants exclusive to HBX with the word "Erewhon" printed in bold— a shoutout to the L.A-based grocery store, Erewhon Market, where Hollywood celebrities stock up.
Other pieces in the capsule are garments that take playful cues from the current bootleg trend where designs riff on iconic logos by warping and reappropriating typefaces. For example, the Papaslime T-shirt is a humorous take on the Papa John's logo, replacing the familiar letters to fit the word "Pizzaslime". The Dominoslime T-shirt flips the Dominos logo by replacing it with PizzaSlime's and the Oprah 2020 T-shirt reference political campaign slogans. Other pieces like the Big Ass Lighter T-shirt and Slime Dad Hat round out the capsule.
