Having collaborated with fashion and streetwear notables from Oliver Peoples to Jordan Brand, Public School has established itself as one of the most-recognizable and ubiquitous brands on the New York Fashion scene. This season, the brand has revived runways with a collection named “We Need Leaders” that is rife with youthful attitude. The design duo behind the brand, Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne, have always tended towards the unconventional – they recently ditched the seasonal fashion model and also made the radical decision to merge menswear and womenswear into a single show. They are similarly unorthodox in their approach to design, combining high-end and street aesthetics. Highlights of the collection include streamlined bombers, oversized hoodies and boxy pocket tees – the uniform de rigeur of the youth rebellion. The collection, designed to reflect our dystopian political landscape, also featured bold slogans rendered in vibrant yellow. Public School has made the very act of dressing an act of resistance.
