A curious mix of logomania and deconstruction.
2017 saw
Fragment Design collaborating with the likes of Starbucks, VLONE, sacai and Louis Vuitton to name a few. Today, we find ourselves in an interesting moment where the landscape of fashion has become a wellspring for collaborative perspectives. It's here that the iconic lightning bolts and the bold asterisks meet in tandem — Witness: The exclusive Fragment Design x A-COLD-WALL* 2017 Capsule Collection.
A-COLD-WALL* maintains a unique design approach. Though the label can be characterized in many ways, at its core, its galvanizing deconstruction techniques have often been the focal point of dialogue. Like showing welt seams on the outside or revealing the inside yoke of a coat, the label often flips conventional silhouettes on their head.
This exclusive Fragment Design x A-COLD-WALL* 2017 Capsule Collection is a curious mix of logomania and deconstruction. One half, a reference to Tokyo streetwear culture; the other, a boundary-pushing take on garment construction. We see a line up of 2 t-shirts, a pack containing 3 T-shirts and a coach jacket. Where garment tags used to be restricted to only appear on the inside of T-shirts, now there's bonus branding on tags that stick out from the side of each Tee. Uneven screen printing gets emblazoned on the back of the coach jackets for an added DIY look, and a subtle black tape runs through the juxtaposed logos at the sleeve. Overall, both brands meet to offer unique dimensions to the garments — The weight and history of the Fragment Design icon and the innovative garment techniques of A-COLD-WALL*
