Facetasm
Founded in 2007 by Bunka Fashion College grad Hiromichi Ochiai, Japanese streetwear brand Facetasm reflects an avant-garde, punk sensibility that plays with balance and imbalance in clothing. The Tokyo-based label creates inventive silhouettes that experiment with asymmetry and volume, creating apparel that it eccentric but wearable at the same time.
Facetasm's collection for the 2016 spring/summer season reconfigures the traditional layered ensembles such as the three piece suit with an off-kilter sensibility, pushing the boundaries of what conventional silhouettes can offer. These denim shorts have been cut asymmetrically and gathered with adjustable leather straps for an outlandish look. The shorts are left unfinished with frayed hems to give wearers an effortless cool.
Gaining international attention after its debut collection in 2007, FACETASM exhibits a unique sensibility and a realistic portrayal of the fashion in Tokyo today. Taken its name from the word "facet", designer Hiromichi Ochiai wants the brand to represent "various perspectives".
