Phenomenon, established in 2004 by Takeshi Osumi, reinterprets distinctly traditional Japanese silhouettes with influences from music and club culture. Not known for its conservatism, Phenomenon's collections are filled with a variety of vivid prints and colors, making the brand a regular in the wardrobes of Tokyo's avant-garde.
Phenomenon's Spring/Summer 2016 collection is founder Takeshi Osumi's last, and the designer has brought his A game this season, creating vibrant and eclectic pieces for the streetwear brand. Asian influences shine through in this souvenir jacket, which features embroidered iterations of mandalas, sand art which is routinely created and destroyed by Buddhist monks. A minimalist interpretation of the art form, the jacket features mandalas embroidered on the front and back in white thread, complemented by white mesh sleeves.
