Founded in 2021 by designer Kazuya Yamachika, Japanese label ANCELLM operates on a simple yet radical philosophy: proposals for changes over time from a different perspective. Rooted in Yamachika’s home region of Okayama, Japan’s historical heart of denim and textile craftsmanship, the brand views distressing, fading, and wear not as signs of decay, but as an evolving form of personal artwork. Every piece undergoes meticulous multi-stage processing, including hand-distressing, sun-bleaching, custom garment washing, and raw hem finishes. Because no two garments age identically, each piece develops a unique patina over years of continuous wear, embodying the spirit of wabi-sabi applied directly to modern, elevated menswear.
For Fall/Winter 2026, ANCELLM expands its narrative of time-worn garments with rich textural depth and relaxed silhouettes. The collection highlights artisanal craftsmanship across a varied material spectrum, from heavily washed rust-red wool outerwear featuring hand-frayed hems to understated, dark-dyed chore shirts with crisp collared cuts. The denim selection remains a core anchor, featuring heavily faded vintage-wash trucker jackets, weathered black zip work jackets equipped with aged dual hardware, and wide-leg denim trousers displaying realistic sun-bleached whiskers, subtle oil staining, and hand-engraved custom branded hardware. To round out the seasonal layering, long-sleeve waffle thermals feature intentionally distressed hems and cuffs designed to peek through outerwear.
Yamachika frequently reminds his audience that a garment is only half-finished when it leaves the workshop, leaving the wearer to complete it through their own life, habits, and time. Discover the latest curation of the ANCELLM FW26 collection, available now online at HBX.
