Globally renowned, workwear-inspired label Timberland, and independent footwear innovation platform CONCEPTKICKS have reunited for an exclusive CONSTRUCT:10061 collaboration. Together, Timberland and CONCEPTKICKS are releasing a limited collection that is a tribute to nature, featuring five fresh TECTRA-inspired silhouettes. This marks CONSTRUCT: 10061’s exclusive debut on HBX.
Started in 2018, each year CONSTRUCT: 10061 brings together the best footwear innovators and creators from around the world to rethink the boot-making process, design, and push the boundaries of footwear. The latest CONSTRUCT:10061 workshop was set at Timberland’s New Hampshire-based prototyping lab, The Shed. There, a roster of tech specialists, product designers, and fashion creators were provided with specialist 3-D digital prototyping, on-site injection molding, leather pattern cutting, embossing, and a range of other specialized machinery.
Marking four years since the inaugural workshop, the latest limited-release reimagines Timberland’s most iconic silhouettes through the lens and creative direction of “eco-innovation” with just five days, 20 materials and a single color to develop this lineup of next-generation footwear. The single-color palette “Cosmic latte” is a color founded by a team of astronomers from John Hopkins University that is meant to visually describe the average color of the universe's galaxies, as perceived from the Earth.
Pushing the boundaries of conventional design and conceptualizing forward-thinking footwear, the partnership continuously reimagines elements from Timberland’s history, infusing them with a contemporary twist.
Best known for the iconic yellow work boot, The Original Timberland Boot, fans of the brand may recognize new iterations of their favorite styles.
Designer Téla D’Amore puts a modern twist on the original Timberland Super Boot with an elongated collar and an extra stacked EVA sole with the C61 Stacked 10-inch Boot. Contemporary wrapped leather laces enhance this utility-driven silhouette. The boot also features a biobased Dyneema textile and primary lace Tencel.
CONCEPTKICKS’ own John Chen brings to the stage the C61 Gen Extender Boot, a collapsible piece that alludes to the iconic paper light structures by Isamu Noguchi. This adjustable silhouette gives users a multitude of mid-high, structured-slouchy styles in one piece and features Timberland’s ReBOTl recycled lining.
The C61 Woven Clog encompasses the outdoor attitude of Timberland® boots with hand-finished sentiments. Designed by Jaimus Tailor, founder of London-based upcycling brand Greater Goods, this design harnesses a woven fabric upper made from individual strips of nylon webbing and a neoprene collar.
The C61 Neo Veil Hiker, designed by Daniel Bailey and AKME’s Jesus Diaz, transforms the construction of Timberland’s iconic Euro Hiker, incorporating an external Lycra® shroud to blur the line between the upper and sole junction. Such visual interest is further emphasized through the square outsole to the rounded toe transition. The boot also features Timberland’s ReBOTl recycled lining and Tencel lace.
Rounding out the release, the C61 Dy-Tec World Hiker, designed by Daniel Bailey and John Chen, is a material study of technicality within an iconic silhouette. Constructed from a biobased Dyneema® upper that sandwiches a spacer mesh, a climbing rubber around the toe provides additional structure and volume to the chunky Vibram® Bristol outsole and is finished with Tencel lace.
The Timberland® x CONCEPTKICKS CONSTRUCT:10061 collection drops on Earth Day and will sell exclusively through Earth Month, showcasing the fusion of eco-innovation and contemporary design built into each piece. Crafted with premium Timberland materials, durability and quality are at the forefront of this collection. Incorporating responsible materials like ReBOTL™ fabric lining and biobased Dyneema® textiles and uppers, the collection provides long-lasting durability and quality, whilst telling the story of eco-conscientious craftsmanship in mind.
The pioneering designs born from the CONSTRUCT:10061 collaboration demonstrate the sheer possibilities and results that innovative minds can cultivate when brought together.
The collection will be available for purchase on 24th April, exclusively on Hypebeast. Shop the original 10061 now.
