There are few brands that consistently push the boundaries of creativity and redefine sartorial expression. Y/Project, led by Belgian designer Glenn Martens, has proven time and again to be one of those exceptional labels from its latest collections, particularly for the Fall/Winter 2023 season.
Dress: Body Collage Tank Dress, Bag: Maxi Wire Cabas Bag, Necklace: Fuck U Pendant Necklace
The collection, which made its runway debut at Paris Fashion Week back in March, plays around with shapes. Hoodies and jersey skirts arrive with integrated wire panels allowing the garments to be twisted in various silhouettes, while contrast is added through bold prints on maxi-length dresses and casual tops. The same wire detailing remains a key element on handbags, revealing Y/Project's signature logo underneath the flap.
Shapes are continuously explored on Martens' denim pieces, such as ruffles on slim-fitted jeans. The hook-and-eye details on a pair of pants allow the silhouette to be changed by the wearer. The playful theme continues on the brand's jewelry creations, including hand signs recreated into pendant necklaces (the earring version of the Fuck U Pendant went viral earlier this year).
