First appearing in the public eye during its SS19 runway, the JW Anderson x Converse Run Star Hike "White" is a play on the classic Chuck Taylor silhouette and will be available soon. The collaborative sneaker is a follow up to its previously releases black counterpart.
The SS19 sneaker is a curious synthesis of exaggerated shapes and playful motifs, paying homage to the heritage of classic Chuck Taylors while rejecting its traditional shape at the same time. Its upper takes the form of a normal high-top Chuck Taylor, where the body sinks into an inflated, hefty midsole— the sneaker's defining feature. The outsole is separated into two areas: Tan gum treading, which appears at the front half of the shoe, and blue gum, beginning at the other half, wrapping over the back corner and finishing at the lower heel where a black star is placed. Another detail is a touch of JW Anderson embossing found on the lateral sides of the chunky midsole. While a slight nod to the classic Chucks, the shoe's disproportionate sole offers it a newly distinctive character.
