One day before the Louis Vuitton runway show, Virgil Abloh presented the Off-White™‘s Spring/Summer 2020 collection at Paris Fashion Week 2019. Titled “PLASTIC”, the designer describes it as “a metaphor for how over a generation a term can transition to mean something else —from a utility to a polarising term”. The collection is also partially in collaboration with American artist Futura to incorporate a series of spray-painted prints in tribute to the ‘80s graffiti scene in New York.
Seeing one of Futura’s sculpture surrounded by a turf of white flowers, the runway was kicked off by Sheck Wes, who stepped out in an all-white look of an overcoat, trousers and a T-shirt all spray-painted in Futura’s essence. The collaborative capsule continued throughout the collection, highlighting the Off-White™ x Nike SB Dunk Low in two colorways. Elsewhere, the collection featured a range of gradient pieces — including graffitied denim jackets — muted tie-dye jeans and relaxed tailoring throughout. As well as a number of idiosyncratic footwear with additional sandals and hiking-style boots designs.
The show ended with a number of womenswear looks, culminating with Gigi Hadid closing the show before other models walked through the white flower meadow. Click here for a closer look at the Womens pieces from the Off-White™‘s Spring/Summer 2020 collection.
