From indigo to washed-black, distressed to panelling, our latest curation of denim jackets for SS19 spotlights the latest reinterpretations of the classic fabric. Featured brands include OFF-WHITE, Human Made, Sophnet, and Martine Rose.
From the OFF-WHITE collection titled “En Plein Air”, designer Virgil Abloh has featured signature graphics combined with impressionist art. The Slim Denim Jacket is crafted from faded-black denim, featuring a back panel printed with Édouard Manet's 1874 portrait of Claude Monet emerged in the “Crossed Arrows” logo. A hanging brand patch at the back with branding and signature stripe pattern gives the piece a classic OFF-WHITE finish. Also in washed-black denim, the Human Made Kung-Fu Jacket incorporates its signature bold typographies to the silhouette of this Asian garment in line with the collection motif of mixing Japanese craftsmanship and American influences. Featured throughout the SS19 collection, slogan “Gears for futuristic teenagers” is printed at the centre strip, alongside printed text at back and several distressed details.
Collarless with an open front design, the Sophnet Denim Long Shirt Cardigan is made from 8oz cotton denim with a genius touch of bandana panels at the cuffs and hem. The amalgamation of Japanese attire and American textile has found a harmonious common ground, blending style elements from the East and West. The final highlight from our selection is the Denim Hybrid Shirt from the latest Martine Rose ‘90s-inspired collection. As two of the classic fashion elements of the era, the tartan plaid twill shirt is hybridised with denim panels to demonstrate the designer’s London subcultural influence and eccentric perspectives.
