The amiability towards foreign cultures and deep reverence for its local heritage has seen Shanghai become one of the world’s most important metropolis today. It comes as no surprise that the openness and forward mindset of the city has continued attracting talents from all over the world, such as Australian born Amber Akilla. As the creative director of local DJ collective NÜSHÙ 女术, Amber, who performs regularly for popular local venues such as Arkham, Le Baron, and Dada, has also supported various artists such as A$AP Nast, Tokimonsta, Desiigner, Brodinski, Uniiq3, Rae Sremmurd and Venus X. We spent a day cutting through the tree-shaded avenues and tranquil back streets in the former French Concession of Shanghai, across the river from the bustling Pudong, exploring the idyllic back garden of the historical city.
