For the past few years, designer, Samuel Ross has kept a tight schedule. On top of running his label, A-COLD-WALL*, numerous capsules, collaborations, and special projects have been completed and crossed off his long to-do list. In particular, one endeavor to come out of the ongoing roll-outs is a label he's co-founded with Jobe Burns: Concrete Objects. Today, we arrive at Collection 2 — the latest installment of brutalist-style homewares that encompasses everything from cubist-inspired figurines to blockish, multi-purpose cups that can be used for holding your drink or some small flowers.
If we look back at Collection 1, the first noticeable thing is that a great majority of the objects were created using raw concrete. Through collaborative input, both Samuel Ross and Jobe Burns were fixated on concepts surrounding brutalism and how that might be translated into abstract ornaments, hence the label's name, Concrete Objects. But this time, Collection 2 features more colors. It took about 14 months of experimentation and development to get the pieces to their right forms and "hyper-refined" state. Aptly titled the "Resin Series", the objects are smoother around the edges and semi-translucent. The objects are cut in certain ways so that different colors are reflected depending on the angles that light passes through. Standout items include the Concrete Objects Portland Cup, NULL Figure 100% and Polygon Incense Holder. Other creative objects, wares and ornaments drive the theme centered around urban design and luxury.
