Cult Japanese label mastermind Japan is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and there’s no sign that the brand is losing steam. It may only be February, but the brand has already engaged in a number of high-profile collaborations, and has dropped not one but two anniversary collections. In contrast to the pre-20th collection, which featured black and white graphic tees with the brand’s distinctive skull iconography, this second drop has a more retro flair to it. Jumping on the vintage band tee trend, mastermind Japan riffs on the logos and graphic treatment of Metallica, giving its skull and bones motif a colorful rework. The collection also features much experimentation with typography, from lyrics to oversized lettering printed on the back of tees.
The full collection will drop at 12AM EST, Feb 4th on HBX.
