Japanese label Hender Scheme specializes in artistically crafted footwear and leather goods. Founder Ryo Kashiwazaki’s designs are inspired by contemporary styles with traditional craftsmanship. The label proves that footwear can be sophisticated by carefully blending high-end materials found in loafers and oxfords onto sneaker structures. For 2016 spring/summer, the “Post Modern” collection, all product are handmade and have omitted recognizable branding across the uppers, as mesh and rubber synthetic materials we’re accustomed to are replaced with premium, vegetable-tanned leather construction; which creates a unique patina over each use. The iconic sole constructions are also replaced with stacked leather sole units. Upon a closer look, impressive detailings are revealed; such as natural hand-cobbled cowhide leather laces, and hand-stamped logo on the insole. Unlike typical athletic shoes, these are made for the fashion-savvy individual looking for a smart-casual alternative.
