First appearing in Japan as early as the 5th century AD, the kimono is a traditional Japanese garment crafted from fine materials or by renowned artisans preserving centuries-old construction techniques. In contemporary fashion, the garment is often reinterpreted with a contemporary twist by numerous labels such as visvim, Greg Lauren and BAPE. From our Kimono Jackets curation, we look at the latest styles from four Japanese streetwear labels including maharishi, Human Made, Sasquatchfabrix. and SOPHNET.
One notable piece is the SOPHNET. Quilting Shirt Cardigan made from vintage nylon rip stop. Without a waist strap, the piece see drawcords at the sleeves and features two side pockets as a twist to the traditional silhouette. Another highlighted piece is the Human Made Hanten by renowned Japanese streetwear designer NIGO. Incorporating the brand's signature logo at chest and graphic at back, the indigo outerwear is finished with a front tie waist.
