New Arrivals: BURBERRY Spring/Summer 2019 "KINGDOM" Collection
[socials/]BURBERRY's 160-year legacy underwent a radical transformation with the recent arrival of Italian designer Riccardo Tisci. Titled "KINGDOM", the Spring/Summer 2019 range sees the label venture into a bold new direction, capturing the attention of a younger generation in search of something modern and different. Tisci, who previously served as Creative Director of GIVENCHY, manages to keep the British fashion house's near two-century old heritage safely intact, while infusing the latest assemblage of designs with the punk-gothic inspirations he is well known for.
To offer a fresh, new perspective, renowned graphic designer Peter Saville was commissioned to redesign the age-old logo with the letters "T" and "B" interlocked — a patterned acronym honoring the founder Thomas Burberry. This emblem can be seen sprawled across this season's selection of accessories, dominating both headwear and small leather goods. Highlights include the Monogram Print Baseball Cap, a softly structured silk-twill ware featuring adjustable ties and the interlocked "T" and "B" motif on repeat. Another standout piece is the Jessie Cross Body Bag, which boasts an intricate raised "TB" monogram pattern throughout, detachable gold-tone hardware and three compartments for added functionality. Rounding out the selection is the hiker-influenced Logo Print Nylon Backpack. The bag is a refined take on the utilitarian silhouette, adorned with white logo detailings and a functional waist belt.
