Rick Owens is an enigma. The designer has a penchant for distorting silhouettes and elongating proportions to the max, and it's become all-the-more pronounced in the latest delivery of the Rick Owens DRKSHDW Spring/Summer 2018 Collection. Set behind a subdued deep-red backdrop, monochromatic pieces are put together to cast encroaching shadows.
The concise range of garments encompasses heavy-weight fabrics and leather mixed in with utilitarian details. Featured pieces include the signature Rick Owens DRKSHDW Scarpe Low sneakers in patent leather, the Hooded Short Bomber and the Jason's Regular Hoodie to name a few. While the designer spends a lot of his time making clothes, a lot of his work in furniture bleeds into his work. The brutalist caricatures found on the patches of the Rick Owens DRKSHDW Brother Jacket reflects this sensibility. Rounding out the collection is the Rick Owens DRKSHDW Windbreaker featuring intricate stitch-work that crosses over the center zipper in a star-like pattern.
