N.D.G. Studio’s 2016 spring/summer collection is a forward-thinking range that conjures up themes of the dystopian future. The French menswear label was inspired by Japanese silhouettes and industrial workwear from the ‘50s this season, lending the collection are foreign but rugged looka that would not look out of place on the set of the many apocalyptic films that have come out in the recent past. Traditional Japanese silhouettes, such as the kimono, have been retooled in N.D.G.’s signature earthy shades. Loose-fitting utilitarian silhouettes from broad-shouldered muscle hoodies to camouflaged cargo pants pervade the collection, their austere aesthetic exemplified by the frayed fabric edges and intentionally-created holes present throughout. The label continues its foray into the footwear space as well, with its mocassin-inspired Native Run sneakers that are constructed in neutral, buttery suede, and feature an off-kilter set of laces.
